X-Brace VS Gusty Winds

June 20, 2022

Last Oct at the Mid-Atlantic GD rally, we had MORryde X-Braces put on our 2910BH. It made a big difference in the stability but little did we know how MUCH it would help us at a later date. Jump forward to Tuesday, June 14th. The park we are currently in was hit by a small tornado that night. There were thunderstorm warnings and we watched the very impressive storm and lightning show as it approached, but NO tornado warnings or even a watch. When it hit, we were watching through the windows since we grew up in the mid west and know what could happen. Within minutes the rain was so intense and wind driven that all visibility outside went away. We know what strong “gust front” winds feel like and we did experience them at the outset, but what follwed was WAY more intense. For about 4-5 minutes we were severally pummeled by the wind, and at this point it was not safe to leave the RV and head for the shelter. Then it got even worse. Winds rapidly changed directions and the entire trailer was shaking intensly. At one point I thought we were going airborne, but the majority of the shaking seemed to us to be front/back not as much as side to side. It’s much easier to “roll” an RV sideways rather end to end. We FIRMLY believe that the X-Brace system provided the added stability to drastically reduce the storms ability to “roll” us sideways. and enabled us to ride out the event….which I do not recommend! A few RV’s were destroyed (rolled on their sides or suffered tree branch crushing or penetration) but no serious or life threatening injuries. Thank you MORryde!!!! However that was one ride we do don’t want to do more!
