For products that offer vertical movement absorption, you will find either a coil spring, a composite spring or a rubber cord. This specific type of cushioning is found on most gooseneck products because it is believed to help better protect your unit from towing shock.
The MORryde GooseTech is unique because it utilizes a rubber shear spring that helps protect your unit by offering up to 3” of back-and-forth movement to help cushion the impact of road shock and the transfer of energy from the trailer to the truck. So, why did MORryde decide to take this alternative approach when designing the GooseTech?
Think back to when you were a kid jumping on a trampoline with a friend. If you jumped in sync with each other, you both got serious air time, flying high. However, if you and your friend were out of sync, jumping was no longer smooth and easy on your legs. The movement would be ragged and one of you almost always ended up falling over. Now, think of the relationship between your truck suspension and the gooseneck as the movement on a trampoline. When the two systems move in sync, the ride is smooth. But hitting bridge expansion joints or railroad tracks can cause them to fall out of sync and absorb vertical movement, creating a rougher, less comfortable ride. To avoid this issue, MORryde designed the GooseTech to absorb back-and-forth movement so the truck suspension and the gooseneck don’t fall out of sync. With 3” of back-and-forth movement absorption and a high quality auto-latching coupler, the attachment is secure and solid without any slop, making towing much smoother than vertical-performing gooseneck boxes.
